Erosion of rocks

The Erosion of Rocks Project, developed by a group of young people in collaboration with local organizations and residents of Arens de Lledó, has restored some of the municipality’s more than 30 water rafts and created the “Erosion of Rocks”. This 13 km route passes by nine water rafts and is divided into two sections or short, linked routes of 8 and 5 km respectively. These water rafts were built near farmhouses or fields to collect rainwater and provide water during the summer months. They are over 200 years old and range from stone, cemented, and some simply dug into the ground.

The route follows paths and ravines alongside olive groves, almond orchards, vineyards, and offers spectacular views.

The red route starts in the village and climbs the Les Comes de Santa Maria ravine to reach the Jeroni’s raft, continuing towards the Arturo’s and Civil’s rafts before arriving at the Coll de la Creu pass. Here you can start and finish the green route or continue towards Pi de les 3 Branques, the Llop’s raft, Lo Balcó, and return along the path to Arens.

The green route begins and ends at Coll de la Creu and passes by the Vidal’s raft, El Bassot, the Picola’s raft, and the Cuco’s raft. Here you backtrack part of the way to reach the Ventura’s raft and then return to Coll de la Creu.

Lo Balcó is an emblematic spot in Arens. From this viewpoint, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the Algars River valley, with its almond groves, vineyards, and olive groves… the town of Arens and the Els Ports region.

Words also leave their mark

This small book was born from the desire to collect and share the voices that have emerged around water, ponds, and the life woven around them. From the heart of the Footprints of Water project, we launched this short story contest with the intention of inviting people to imagine, remember, and tell stories inspired by that invisible yet vital heritage that is our traditional ponds.

The contest has been much more than a literary activity: it has been a space for memory, creativity, and connection with the land. We were moved to see how people of all ages were encouraged to participate, from children with their curious eyes to older people who shared cherished memories.

We want to extend a very special thank you to everyone who participated in the short story writing workshop, a day full of magic, imagination, and shared words. And, of course, to all those who were inspired to submit their stories to the contest: thank you for giving your time, your sensitivity, and your voice. Each text is another drop that feeds this collective spring of stories.

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed reading yours. This little book is a celebration of who we are, who we have been… and what, together, we can continue to build.

Thank you for leaving your mark.
